基于工作过程的高职商务英语课程体系构建研究

针对目前我国高职商务英语课程体系存在的问题,在社会和市场广泛调研的基础上,从典型工作任务归纳、学习领域课程开发、学习情境设计和配套设施建设四个方面提出高职商务英语课程体系构建方案。

当前，我国高等教育日益强调创新能力培养。本文以教学实践为基础,探讨了在英语专业教学中通过海报设计 原理显性教学对学生图像创新能力发展的影响。通过分析学生作业和结构访谈数据，发现海报设计原理显性教学对图像创新 能力培养的效果呈现出比较明显的不均衡性，即部分学生展现出了一定的创新能力，而其他则无明显改观。最后，分析了出现 上述结果的影响因素。

以盐城工学院国际合作班英语教学实践为例，分别从建设过硬的师资队伍、紧扣培养方案合理安排课程、实施情感教育、创新教学方法和改革考核办法等方面，探讨了国际合作班英语教学质量的提升路径，并对所存在的问题进行了反思。     

The white native speaker and inequality regimes in the private English language school

Private English language schools market the language as a tool that helps one connect with others from different cultures. Despite their promotion of English aiding in intercultural communication, these institutions may believe that only the white native speaker is the ideal teacher of the language. This valuing of the white native speaker can consequently act as an organisational inequality regime that marginalises nonwhite teachers. Using qualitative interviews with 10 nonwhite instructors working in schools in Toronto, Canada, this article investigates the ways in which these teachers experience the inequality regime of the white native speaker at work. The findings indicate that the teachers experience this inequality regime as a series of microaggressions that involve space, competence and customer desire. The article concludes with suggestions to dismantle inequality regimes in private institutions.     

大学英语视听说翻转课堂教学模式的构建与实施

“翻转课堂”，即将知识传授和知识内化的顺序颠倒安排。知识传授由学生在课前自主完成，知识内化则放到课堂上实现，即从“课堂授课听讲+课后完成作业”转变为“课前自主学习+课堂协作探究”。从分析当前大学英语视听说的教学现状入手，阐述了以TBLT为基础的英语视听说翻转课堂的构建与实施，并进一步指出这种新型教学模式所带来的优势和挑战，以期为大学英语视听说教学更为合理、有效地利用翻转课堂模式提供一定的借鉴和参考。     

English proficiency in Australia, 1981 to 2016

Using Australian census data, the paper examines the incidence of poor English competency in Australia from 1981 onwards. The paper examines English competency in relation to various characteristics such as sex, age, language spoken, visa type, citizenship, duration of residence and location. It finds that there was a sharp rise in the numbers of people not speaking English well between the 2011 and 2016 Censuses and special attention is given to this rise in the paper. Recently, the Australian Government unsuccessfully legislated for the introduction of a requirement of English competency at the level of IELTS 6 (the commonly used university entrance level) as a condition for the award of Australian citizenship. The paper argues that this test would have led to a very large number of disenfranchised Australian permanent residents and this would be a highly undesirable result. Nevertheless, employment and social participation are strongly influenced by English competency and residents with poor English are disadvantaged. The policy suggestion is made that participation in a course of English language training for those without functional English skills could be made a precondition of the award of permanent residence—without the application of a passing grade.     

Socio‐economic stratification of English in globalized landscapes: A market‐oriented perspective

Globalization has dramatically altered the urban societies of Amsterdam and Brussels over recent decades, with intensified socio‐economic inequality, unprecedented levels of multilingualism and the increasing importance of English. In this paper, I examine the use of English in the linguistic landscape of socio‐economically stratified commercial shopping streets in these two second‐tier global cities. I adopt a market‐oriented, contextualized approach to quantitative and qualitative variability in how English emerges in these particular commercial ‘linguistic markets’. McDonaldization in midscale shopping streets occurs alongside downscale and upscale uses of English which are more susceptible to local commercial dynamics, in particular in Brussels. As such, global English in these single city contexts emerges as a heterogeneous and scaled phenomenon shaped by specific local commercial and linguistic market conditions.     

Infusing Career Development to Strengthen Middle School English Language Arts Curricula

An approach is presented for strengthening middle school standards‐based English language arts (ELA) classroom instruction by infusing theory‐ and research‐supported career development constructs and practices. Over an 8‐week period, 90 urban 7th graders participated in an integrated ELA–career development curriculum. Career agency emerged as an important construct for students. It was related to key markers of ELA achievement (i.e., standardized test scores, grades, and positive change in 6th‐ to 7th‐grade test scores) and elaborated on in nuanced ways by students in their written narratives. Four themes related to career agency were identified in student writings: time perspective, challenges of self‐direction, career development, and social and emotional development. Advantages for students and schools related to synergy, scale, and sustainability are discussed.
